2010-02-09: First Swiss Railway Timetable with Netcetera Software – Successful Planning – First Endurance Test Passed

Since 13 December 2009, the Swiss Railway is running according to schedule 2010. The timetable was planned with software by Netcetera. With it, SBB plans all journeys of freight and passenger trains. The internationally awarded Swiss software passed the first endurance test well on the day of the timetable change: A derailment at Zürich's main station necessitated the re-scheduling of more than 1,000 trains. The exemplary and close cooperation between customer and the project partners Netcetera, Ergon and NOSE was essential for the successful start of the new planning software.

2010-02-02: Always on the Move with Great Prosperity for free - Netcetera Develops iPhone Application for Bilanz "The 300 Wealthiest"

Once again, Netcetera developed a successful iPhone App. The free application for Bilanz, one of the leading Swiss business magazines, has been downloaded more than 10,000 times since its launch in December 2009. It is called "Die 300 Reichsten" (the 300 wealthiest) and enables the mobile access to Bilanz' popular special print edition on the 300 wealthiest people in Switzerland. Background stories, analyses and news about the richest people in the country complement the offer.

2010-01-21: Renowned US Professor Supports Netcetera - Prof. Thomas Zurbuchen Initiates Innovation

Thomas Zurbuchen, Professor and Associate Dean for Entrepreneurial Programs at the University of Michigan, USA, has joined Netcetera as a Researcher in Residence during his sabbatical. Till summer 2010, Zurbuchen is supporting Netcetera in empowering the company's innovation pipeline by researching innovative ideas, novel products and to develop plans for bringing them to life. Thomas Zurbuchen is a PhD in astrophysics from the University of Bern. For over 14 years, he built a successful research group at the University of Michigan, a public US university with a billion-dollar research program. He is the founding director of the University’s Center for Entrepreneurship, which has attracted US-wide visibility through its size and broad impacts. In his function as Associate Dean, Thomas Zurbuchen now develops, leads and coordinates programs focused on innovation, entrepreneurship and technology transfer at the University's College of Engineering.

Netcetera built the online shop for Erdgas Zürich and integrated it into their existing web presence. Erdgas Zürich is Switzerland's largest natural gas provider, investing heavily in renewable energies. Its customers can now order their wood pellets comfortably around the clock. Netcetera built and integrated the online shop into Erdgas Zürich's existing web presence in view of future expansion. It is also hosted by Netcetera.

2009-09-24: Swiss Open Source Awards 2009 - Netcetera Sponsored Education Prize

The Open Source Awards encourage the use of open source software in Switzerland and aim to raise the public awareness of open source projects. Netcetera sponsored the "Education" category and awarded the representatives of the University of Zurich , Renata Sevcikova and Immo Wille, with the well-deserved prize at the OpenExpo in Winterthur. Their winning project "eLesson Markup Language" is XML based and used to generate structured e-learning content.

In a joint Swiss‐Belgian effort, a combined scientific and industrial consortium is building a new class of an airborne imaging spectrometer for environmental monitoring: the Airborne Prism Experiment Airborne imaging spectrometers measure and map the Earth surface in many, contiguous spectral bands, allowing to retrieve relevant spatial information on the state of the environment. 2009-04-03: Best of Swiss Web 2009 - Netcetera's Solutions on Winners' Podium for Usability

The Best of Swiss Web Association awarded two solutions by Netcetera and its subsidiary Metaversum. In total, 45 projects received seals of approval in different categories at the award night on 2 April in Zürich. Netcetera’s projects dominated the category Usability. Tramdroid, the timetabling application for the iPhone, got silver. Bronze went to the Canton of Zug's website. Netcetera's subsidiary Metaversum was part of the website's development team.

Swiss IT service provider Netcetera has been commissioned by the European Space Agency (ESA) to be the prime contractor for the development of the multi-site web platform "Earth Observation Data and Information Services" (EO DISP). 2009-01-29: Winners of the Robot Team Challenge visiting the German Aerospace Center

The winners of the “Robot Team Challenge” redeemed their prize and visited the German Aerospace Center. The robotics laboratory was the day’s highlight for the students from Sargans, Switzerland. They controlled robot arms and were visibly impressed by the machines’ abilities. In 2008 the students experienced hands-on the difficulties of programming a robot, when Netcetera and AdNovum organized the Robot Team Challenge. This robotic contest during Switzerland's year of IT aimed at bringing Swiss grammar school students closer to informatics. The Robot Team Challenge winners proved to be truly talented, one of the schoolteam, Daniel Graf, also won the first round of this year’s Swiss IT Olympics.

With their canteen robot a grammar school team from Sargans won the «Robot Team Challenge». Netcetera and AdNovum jointly initiated this contest in Switzerland's year of information technology, called informatica08. The happy winners and all other contributions exceeded all expectations. 2008-06-18: Winners of the Programming Contest in Mazedonia Appointed - 500 Programmers Earn their Bragging Rights at Netcetera’s Code Fu

The programming contest Code Fu, initiated by Netcetera in Macedonia, has ended. Pance Cavkovski won with his solution to five algorithmic problems that passed the most unit tests. Nikola Postolov and Ivan Milanov occupy the second and third place. All of them attend the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the University in Skopje. Between 13 April and 8 June 2008, the 500 participants had to overcome four rounds; the warm-up round was followed by two online rounds and ultimately, the remaining 32 participants competed in the finale. Our bike-pros, who use their two-wheeler even in snow and rain, as well as our bike-greenhorns are cycling to their workplaces in Zürich and Bern until 30 June. At Netcetera “bike to work” is not limited to Switzerland; our colleagues in Skopje too, use two wheels in favor of the environment and to promote their health.

2008-05-14: «Robot Team Challenge» Generates Surprising Projects - Contributions Exceed all Expectations

The Zurich-based software companies Netcetera and AdNovum invited interdisciplinary grammar school teams to hand in their projects for the «Robot Team Challenge». This challenge was launched in context of the year of information technologies in Switzerland – informatica08. The initiators of the challenge expected a maximum of 15 applications that would fulfill the quality requirements for soft and hard skills as well as originality. However, after the application deadline at the end of April, twice as many projects were presented and all of them were accepted. The school teams located all over Switzerland, for example in Basel, Bern, Zurich, central Switzerland and Grisons, are receiving an introduction by the software engineers from both companies in the course of the next few days.
